The twin beaches on the North of the Island are separated by a thin stretch of land – one faces north the other faces south. In times gone by, the Royal Yacht Britannia would anchor off these secluded beaches to allow the Royal Family to have their picnics relatively undisturbed – mind you the ship anchored there was a bit of a giveaway!
